I just got a call from my mum. A friend of mine, Chris, came home from work to find his mum dead.
I don't know anything except that it wasn't suicide.
Pray for him, k? He'll probably have to go back to NY to live with his dad.

Mmk, maybe a little bit of cheers.
It wasn't so bad. Dad stayed for the first few minutes, which sucked, but he left after. Shannon and I (mostly her, I admit) talked for about 2 hours. It was kind of fun. She's seen (and loved) Napoleon Dynamite, so we spent a good ten minutes quoting that. She really is cool. I /do/ wish I'd brought my journal though. It has my drawings and otherwise random art in it. Next time, perhaps.Church was really good. We said the songs instead of singing them. It was different, but really good.
I wanted to talk to Leah really badly, but she ran out to the prayer room as soon as church was over. Oh, well. I don't blame her, I wanted to go there, myself.
I accidentally waked into, and was consequently invited to, a high school girls' bible study. They talked about stuff from a book they're reading, and I kind of drifted in and out of listening, but I did catch the last part. They were talking about how sometimes they find it hard to concentrate on praying in the prayer room. The someone was like 'Yeah, but even just being in the /presence/ of God is pleasing to Him.' Which is uber cool, 'cause...I haven't figured out how to make myself settle down to pray.
Sometimes, when I feel lonely, I imagine myself sitting in bed in God's lap, just being held. It's comforting and kind leaves me feeling peaceful. Sometimes I can almost feel arms around me. Uber.
Cheers!

Katy's Secret Recipe
Katy's recipe for an amazing salad:1/2 head of lettuce
1/2 tomato
carrot shreds
broccoli slaw
cheese
Caesar salad dressing
lemon juice
cinnamon/brown sugar
spray or melted butter
Slice up/break up lettuce into small, bite-size pieces. Pour small amount of Caesar dressing into bowl. Cut your tomato into small chunks, and smother in dressing. Add to lettuce.
Add broccoli slaw and carrot shreds. Slice cheese into small squares and dip in Caesar dressing, lightly salt & pepper.
Add any other desired ingredients (I don't like onions, etc, in my salad.). Mix it all up together, then spray/pour a small amount of butter on the lettuce, and stir WELL. Sprinkle brown sugar/cinnamon on (not much!), a squirt of lemon juice for a twang, and stir (again). Add liberal amounts of salt and pepper. For dressing, I suggest using Caesar or something close, but what ever you prefer.
Let salad sit (in fridge) for 15-30 minutes for flavors to combine.
Viola!
Cheers!

Pet Peeves
Hey! Yeah, I know it's been forever. Kill me now.Just got back from painting with Jenna, Stephie, and Jackie. It was fun. My corner of the canvas was random and confused. I couldn't decide what to do. So eventually I killed it and wrote 'SCARS' with black paint, and then below that, 'CONFUSED', 'cause that's how I felt making it.
Moving on, I have decided to list my pet peeves. In no particular order.
Note: if you're easily offended, I wouldn't suggest reading this.
1.) Chatspeak. Why do you have to type 'u' instead of 'you'? It's an extra two letters, people! 1.5 seconds extra at the most. 'Da' instead of 'the', and '2' instead of 'two', 'too', or 'to', 'bi' instead of 'bye'. You make yourselves look stupid and idiotic. My dog has better typing skills than that.
2.) Overly sensitive people. If you can't take me being mean to you, don't talk to me. Easy as that.
3.) People that can't recognize sarcasm. Sarcasm is just a part of me. You can't take me seriously. Never. xD
4.) People that think horses are scary. Yesh, they're big. Yeah, you've seen them kill people in the movies. GUESS WHAT. My horse isn't a scary movie horse. He isn't going to hurt you. He will not buck you off, he won't kick you, and he isn't going to rear up. See next peeve.
5.) People that can't stand me babbling on about my horses. I have horses. I trained them both myself, one since he was a week old. I'm excessively proud of them. They're gorgeous, majestic animals. I'm GOING to talk about them. Accept it, or don't talk to me anymore.
6.) People that think Finland is an uncivilized country. Just because they've never been excessively active in any famous wars, have never done anything insanely, world-changingly remarkable, doesn't mean they're a third-world country. They're just like us, people. They don't live in igloos, polar bears do not reign with an iron claw.
7.) People that talk louder to people with pronounced accents. You won't make them understand you better. You'll just annoy them. The fact that they're from another country doesn't always mean that they're stupid and can't understand English.
8.) People that assume I'm like everyone else, thus treating me like everyone else. I'm not a plastic Barbie like all of them, k? Please don't label me until you get to know me. Don't treat me like the plastics. I'd rather be ignored than treated as if I might fall over if you touch me. I can take you down, you know. I'm not weak.
9.) The phrase 'I love you'. Seriously. It's insanely overused. Love is not something you say to your girl/boyfriend to make them think you care for them. Love is something none of us will ever fully grasp. Don't use it like a wad of toilet paper, k? As dcTalk so plainly stated, "Hey! I think it's time you learned, love is a serious word! ...The word love, love is a verb."
10.) People who make Neopets accounts, play for a day, and leave. Please, if you're not going to use it, don't start it. Neo servers are overloaded with long-abandoned accounts, untouched since the first day. And that leaves us, the loyal players, with more ads to pay for the servers, thus a slower site. Don't do it.
11.) People who call me a 'nerd' because I wear glasses and like to read. It's not funny.
12.) Labels. Just because you cut your wrists and listen to post-grunge music, doesn't mean you're emo. The fact that you wear skirts three inches long and weigh 50 pounds doesn't make you better than us. Labels are for tin cans-leave them there. It hurts us to unimaginable levels to be labeled.
I think I can stop at 12. xD I'll propably have more soon.
love you all! Take no offence at my rantings. I got called an emo and a nerd a couple days ago, and it hurt. I need to rant through words instead of blood.
Cheers!

Nearly forgot.
While I was away at World Changers, my parents got me a *dun da DUN!* dog. He's the most adorable, sproingy, fluffy little dog you could ever meet. We fostered him for a week, but while at WC, Dad texted and said that they'd found him another home. Apparently, that 'other home' was ours. =) Mum is on a homeschool email loop, and they asked if someone could foster him for a few days. He fell through the cracks at AARF and was only a day or two from being put to sleep. And the rest is history. Maybe one day when I don't feel so lazy I'll get a picture of him. Also, Mum has a blog now! It took her an hour to set up, but it's there. Unless I'm mistaken, it's aslterp59.blogspot.com . I'll check that in a second. If it turns out to be bad, I'm not related to her. really. x3
I found this awesome band, Guster. Kevin mentioned it on our first day as a crew, and I looked it up when I got home. Wow. It's one of those amazing bands that's totally unappreciated in its excellence. If you get a chance, I totally reccomend 'Amsterdam'.
On that note (no pun intended), Muse released a new album! 'Black Holes and Revelations'. Wow. Just when you think matt can't get any better, the next song comes on. I listened to it whilst sorting beads, and ended up not getting many beads sorted. xD
Ooh! A commercial for Pirates of the Caribbean just came on! I can't wait to see it. I've seen the first one twice now. It's excellent. Johnny Depp is a great actor. I just adore the way he says 'Savvy?' all the time. *swoon*
Er, I think i've bored you enough for one day. *looks around.
Cheers!
