At least now I have a reason to detest John Kerry.
I hope he runs for President, so we have a guarantee that the Republican side will win.

Uh, actually, he was ripping the President. oh, i'm sorry, you must not have even listened to what he had to say. get over it. the troops are STUCK IN IRAQ because of NO ONE EXCEPT George W. Bush.

Wrong.
None of us are "Stuck" in Iraq.
Every one I talked to that hasn't been wants to go.
Every one who has can't wait to go back again to help those people.
(BTW: By Every one I mean every one in uniform of course)
If I'm lucky,
I'll get to go over there during my senior summer.

If a single person can do that much,
Why don't you do something productive yourself?

Why don't you drive down the road and spend some time with the members of the 4th ID at Fort Carson who just got back. I personally know many members that just returned from their 2nd tour and have VERY VERY different sentiments than those you profess above.

Seriously, it will do you some good...why don't you go down and talk to them about the life on the ground in Balad, Sammarra, Baqubah...

Actually,
I don't have too.
Alot of them come over here.
And we get to take with them quite often.
We even have a monthly teleconfrence with my brothers and sisters in Iraq.
Most of the instructors here were deployed during they're previous tour.
My Law instructor was in bolth Gulf Wars.

Beleive me,
I get a rather large exposure to people who have just gotten back.
And I hear nothing but good things.

So...
MG,
Are you the "Annie" that commented on the other post?

By Blogger TheEarthCanBeMoved, at 8:06 PM

interesting - because i hear completely different stories from my friends and family who just returned from their 2nd deployment. Many are thrilled to be nearly done and getting out. what they say to other men in uniform is probably very different than the emotions they share with their loved ones. i don' t know. they have a sense of duty and loyalty and WILL serve if called again, but to say that they WANT to go back....well, i just don't believe that's true. maybe its different for you air force guys, but the infantry guys i know are tired, sore and sick of killing people and watchign their friends get killed. There is nothing glorious about what we are doing...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:33 PM

That's a very nice probably.
WHat you are saying is that these folks are two faced and hypocritical.
I can garuntee that this is wrong.
The folks I'f talked to haven't got a problem talking with us about anything.
Specifically my law instructor I mentioned earlier.
She's more than happy to speak her mind to us,
Even if it doesn't exaclty line up with what the higher ups what.

Granted,
After just getting back I can see how noone would want to rush back.
But everyone that I know in the military wants to go over there,
Either for their first time,
or back again for more.

Ya wanna know why?
Because that's why we signed up.
We signed up to go and do what no one else wants too.

Ya wanna know why we signed up?
So people can have the freedoms that our Constitution offers.
Even if that means they protest those very efforts.

BTW,
You have yet to answer my main question.
(hint hint)

By Blogger TheEarthCanBeMoved, at 1:42 PM

it is simply not true that "everyone in the military wants to go, or go back" - its just not true. and you should really start to allow for the fact that people have very diverse opinions from you -- even those in the military -- otherwise, you'll have a very challinging life.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:44 PM

I don't recall saying everyone in the military.
That's auniversal statment.
And I can't prove that.
I just said everyone I know and have talked to.

And you still haven't answered my question.

Ouch. MG, sounds like you're running out of actual arguments and are therefore having to resort to logical fallicies, this one being ad hominem, attack on the person rather than his argument. It's also circular reasoning. After all, after reading your comments, I could say the exact same thing to you.

And you still fail to answer Jason's question-are you the annie that commented on the other post? A simple yes or no will suffice.

Oops. Sorry for posting twice.

I'm not a liar. I confess that I did not listen to his speech. As a student, I was IN SCHOOL. I apologize for staying within the law.

MG, I can say nothing. I have talked to no soldiers, conversed with no one who has been in Iraq. However, if they didn't want to go to Iraq, they wouldn't have signed up. And I believe Jason's get the rest covered. If you're going to have a debate, it's completely unethical to attack the person. I could attack you for your misspellings, but that would be completely irrelevant and immature.

John Kerry said that education was important and that you need to take your studies seriously and that if you don't QUOTE: "You get stuck in Iraq". And then later at a press conference he talked about how the white house was distorting his message to make him look bad. The white house didn't NEED to distort his message. He shot himself in the foot. Personally, I believe full well that John Kerry was talking about George W. Bush and not about the troops, although I completely disagree with him. He has stated that his statement was "a botched joke about the president" and "not about the troops" but has yet to apologize directly to the troops for what he said. Because no matter what he MEANT to say, what he said was completely and thoroughly degrading to the troops. And they DO NOT under ANY circumstances deserve that. If Kerry was a smart man, he would recognize that and apologize to the troops.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:39 PM

If Kerry was a smart man, he wouldn't have said it in the first place.
Thanks for your opinions, Fed Up, I really appreciate them. No sarcasm intended.

Hey, isn't John Carey the one who said that if you don't get an education you'll end up in iraq or you'll send america to iraq? Or something like that. If so that really really steamed me. I was so mad. To me that means only the "stupid" people are fighting in Iraq. That's wrong. There are many smart intelegent people over there. Also, what if I wanted to join the military and wanted to serve in iraq? Does that mean I'm stupid or uneducated? I mean come on.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:15 AM

Hey Steph, that's what a lot of the current discussion is about, whether or not John Kerry really meant to say that. John Kerry claims that in his statement that if you don't get an education "you get stuck in Iraq" he was referring to president Bush and how "broken policies" of his have gotten the men and women stuck in Iraq. John Kerry has claimed people are twisting his words in order to make him look bad. But, like I already said, there is no need to twist his words. He shot himself in the foot. What he needs to do now is apologize directly to the troops for what he said. Because, as I already pointed out, it doesn't matter what he MEANT to say, what actually came out of his mouth was thoroughly and completely degrading to the troops.

And I am actually quite surprised at mg's reaction to Kerry's statements, since she (I am assuming mg is a she-I do not know that for certain) supposedly has a lot of connections with people in Iraq and is even engaged to someone in the military. Personally, if I didn't like the president but supported the military (which it appears mg does) I would be saying "I agree with what Kerry MEANT to say; however, I still expect an apology from him for making my fiance/family/friends look like idiots for going to Iraq".

After all, and this is my main point, there can be a HUGE difference in what someone meant to say vs. what someone actually said. And what you "meant" to say NEVER makes up for what you actually said. Kerry needs to apologize directly to the troops-and soon.
